This presidential bid is paying off for MiKe Huckabee

For a paid public speaker and blossoming TV-personality, he’s not a bad candidate either. Oh sure he is still “battling” for every vote against McCain for the Republican nomination, but he drops off the campaign trail from time to time to give a few paid speeches.

He will be addressing a Colorado based group, the Leadership Program of the Rockies. Leadership staffers, nor the campaign would reveal the amount he will be paid for the speech. He will also be meeting behind closed doors with Focus on the Family’s Dr. James Dobson, who recently endorsed Huckabee. It will be an informal meeting at the organization’s headquarters in Colorado Springs, according to Dobson aides.

We all remember that last week he made a detour to give a speech for the sum of….an undisclosed amount to a youth group in the Cayman Islands.

“The taxpayers aren’t paying a dime for me to campaign and I don’t take anything from my campaign so I have to make a living,” he said last week before heading to the Cayman Islands. “I do that through my writing and my speaking. … There will be a few more times when I’ve got to go out and make sure I can make my mortgage payments just like everybody else has to do. I am not independently wealthy.”

I can respect that, I really can. But, here is an idea, drop out of this race that you have absolutely no chance of even coming close to winning and get ahead start on your career after politics. I’ve said in the last few articles that we will soon see Huckabee’s real motivations for staying in the race…and now he is $howing them to u$.
