McCain looking to close out the GOP nomination Tuesday

John McCain is in rallying his supporters to get out and vote. He said Monday night if Texans come to the polls Tuesday, “we will win the nomination.”

McCain goes into Tuesday looking to close things up and is unquestionablyconsidered the favorite by a large majority in all four states: Texas, Ohio, Vermont and Rhode Island that are voting on Tuesday. McCain has 1,019 convention delegates – 172 short of the 1,191 needed to clinch the GOP nomination.

Mike Huckabee trails with 254 delegates but says he’s considering continuing his campaign if McCain fails to get the required number of delegates.

McCain is polling in the mid-50’s in both Texas and Ohio and is expected to sweep Tuesday’s events. The question is, will the victories be enought to give him the nomination? Or will he have to fight on to Mississippi, beat Huckabee there, and finally slam the door on the primary?
