Former Georgia law maker considering presidential run

Former Republican Georgia Rep. Bob Barr is heavily considering the presidential nomination for the Libertarian Party. Barr is remembered by most for his part in the impeachment trial against President Bill Clinton. Since then, he has left congress and the GOP, and joined the Libertarian Party in 2003.Barr sees an opportunity to capitalize on the discontent that many conservatives have with their election choices this year. He is against U.S. involvement in Iraq and opposes McCain on almost all foreign policy issues. Not surprisingly, Ron Paul is expected to throw his support behind Barr as the Libertarian presidential nominee. Barr appears to be the opportunist, playing the role of a big fish in a small pond. This may not sit well with long time Libertarian supporters and candidates such as George Phillies who is also seeking the Libertarian nomination for president. As for Ron Paul, he is a walking contradiction. He went into panic mode just a couple of months ago, when a nobody was threatening his life-long politician aspirations. He pleaded to his Paulbots to help him get reelected to congress – as a Republican of course. Now, he will be supporting a Libertarian for president. So which is it, Paul? Why doesn’t Paul show some principle that so many accuse him of having, quit the GOP, and run with Bob Barr on the Libertarian ticket. Ron Paul is showing no more principle than any other career politician has.
