Supreme Court’s decision to uphold Indiana’s photo ID law

With the voting trouble we have experienced in recent memory (Bush/Gore fiasco) we as Americans must ensure our voting process is the best, most secure and the shining example for the world to follow. It’s the American democratic process that validates us to the world and presses other countries to have viable election processes; even Saddam Hussein had an “election” in 2002 winning with “100%” (which is ridiculous in any credible election process).

It is up to us as Americans to decide on the next President, not illegal aliens walking down Texas streets. This of course is exactly what democrat’s want. Because who else would they vote for when Republicans are the ones making it harder for the rest of their family to get here.

It’s hard conceive that any reasonable person would think that requiring photo-IDs would “disenfranchise poorer, Democratic-leaning voters” or as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said that the ruling “diminishes” voting rights.

In the ruling, Justice Paul Stevens said challengers to the law failed to show the voter ID requirement would pose a “severe burden” on many voters. It astonishes me to believe that Democrats could possibly think the ruling poses a “severe burden” or might “disenfranchise” someone. I know it takes a lot of effort to whip out an ID from the wallet, and I’m sure it burns hundreds of calories and the poor democratic-leaning citizens of America can’t afford to lose those calories on something as trivial as the voting process.

With this said, I think we should applaud the Supreme Court in their ruling, upholding the legitimacy of the American process for at least one more election; guaranteeing that the will of America will prevail in this election, for the good, the bad and ugly. (You can place the candidates under whichever category you prefer.)
