Are Democrats getting ready for a Republican President?

It looks as if House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is trying to acquire as much power as possible before the election by circumventing the democratic process. It’s being reported that she is going to bypass the House Appropriations Committee on the upcoming Iraq war supplemental war funding bill only if she gets the blessing of its Chairman, Rep. Dave Obey (D-Wis.).  Gee, Democrat – Democrat, I wonder if the blessing is coming. She is attempting to ignore differing views by simply excluding any possible input from a Republican or anyone for that matter.

This attempt to circumvent the system will also give her the power and ability to do this in the future on any bill she sees any possible opposition.  I don’t know what we should expect from her she’s done it before; she’s trying to do it again.

I believe this is just a power play by her because she is looking at the two possible democratic candidates and is beginning to understand that both Clinton and Obama are becoming unelectable.  The fighting between both is bringing the worst of each to the forefront.  She is realizing that she needs to do what she can to get power before four more years happens.  There is no reason to conduct yourself in such a way unless you believe that you may need more power to deal with another Republican President. I think Rep. Mike Simpson (R-Idaho), an Appropriations Committee member, put it best when he said:

“For anyone who cares about the institution, this goes against the democratic process. Someone who is confident of her position would have no problem going through regular order.”
