The “Green” McCain
When I listen to Obama talk, especially about raising taxes, I find myself considering voting for McCain. However, when McCain opens his mouth, nearly everything he says deters me from wanting to vote for him. Does McCain really want to win the election or is he trying to throw it? Now McCain is picking up the global warming issue. I’m beginning to wonder if Al Gore has brain washed McCain. From his own campaign site:
The McCain Plan on Global Climate Change:
John McCain will establish a market-based system to curb greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, mobilize innovative technologies, and strengthen the economy. He will work with our international partners to secure our energy future, to create opportunities for American industry, and to leave a better future for our children.
John McCain’s Principles For Climate Policy:
Climate Policy Should Be Built On Scientifically-Sound, Mandatory Emission Reduction Targets And Timetables.
Climate Policy Should Utilize A Market-Based Cap And Trade System.
Climate Policy Must Include Mechanisms To Minimize Costs And Work Effectively With Other Markets.
Climate Policy Must Spur The Development And Deployment Of Advanced Technology.
Climate Policy Must Facilitate International Efforts To Solve The Problem.
My first question is this, are we dealing with science, or fact here? They are not the same. On his web page is a video clip of his campaign commercial stating that our climate is in peril, food and fuel prices are out of control…. do I even need to go on? Do I believe in global climate change? ABSOLUTELY! The climate is constantly changing. We are led to believe that the earth is in danger from what humans are doing. The fact is that the climate has been warmer than it is now. It has also been colder than it is now. Someone needs to explain to me where in the United States Constitution does it give power to the government to make policy in an effort to influence the climate? Is this a democracy or an insane asylum?
