Huckabee could have come up with something better

Mike Huckabee gained fame and paychecks from his humor and personality while campaigning across the nation. He is quick witted and genuinely affable but he completely botched this attempt at humor and should have thought through his words before making such a potential train wreck of a remark during a NRA convention. It occurred when a loud noise was heard from backstage and Huckabee made an attempt to improvise.

“That was Barack Obama. He just tripped off a chair. He’s getting ready to speak and somebody aimed a gun at him and he — he dove for the floor.”

He later apologized

During my speech at the N.R.A., a loud noise backstage, that sounded like a chair falling, distracted the crowd and interrupted my speech. I made an off hand remark that was in no way intended to offend or disparage Sen. Obama. I apologize that my comments were offensive. That was never my intention.”

This did not do any favors for the NRA, the GOP, or to Barack Obama.
