Clinton will call it quits on Saturday
The Clinton universe will finally accept reality and end the spirited contests against Obama. Facing calls and demands that she end her efforts so that the party could unite behind its new leader, she is expected to comply and endorse his presidency on Saturday.
Her decision came after a day of conversations with supporters on Capitol Hill about her future now that Mr. Obama had clinched the nomination. Mrs. Clinton had, in a speech after Tuesday night’s primaries, suggested she wanted to wait before deciding about her future, but in conversations Wednesday, her aides said, she was urged to step aside.
She took heavy criticism for remaining defiant during her speech Tuesday night. It still did not prevent many of her senior supporters from bailing and accepting the Obama victory.
