Supreme Court rules in favor of detainees
The liberal majority of the Supreme Court ruled in favor, 5-4, that said that terrorism suspects being held at Guantanamo Bay have rights under the Constitution and should be heard and a chance to challenge their detention in U.S. civilian courts.
Our rule of law has became a farse. We offer equal rights, 1st Amendment and others, to illegal aliens who come into the country. We watch them march in protest ‘demanding’ rights and burning the flag of the country they invaded while waving the flag of the country the supposedly abandoned. We give protection to criminals, and now, even terrorist suspects.
Justice Anthony Kennedy, writing on the ruling said,
“The laws and Constitution are designed to survive, and remain in force, in extraordinary times.”
Chief Justice John Roberts in his dissent criticized the majority ruling in what he called
“the most generous set of procedural protections ever afforded aliens detained by this country as enemy combatants.”
A review process is needed to reclassify and/or release prisoners who have been held without charge and in some cases for many years. If for no other reason than to get them off the tax-payers back. But to offer them protection under the U.S. Constitution is a complete joke and mockery of our so called ‘rule of law’.
