Conservatives speak out for pro-life VP selection

I don’t think McCain would be stupid enough to make such a move at selecting a pro-choice running mate, especially now that the polls are pulling towards his favor. He may have considered trying to spread the ticket to capture the pro-choice Hillary supporters/independents but he would be doing so at the cost of his base. I don’t think the payout will compensate for the loss. He won’t do it.

The LA Times has the story.

The abortion issue flared last week when McCain told the Weekly Standard that he would not rule out as a running mate former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge, who favors abortion rights.

McCain has since been trying to shore up his conservative credentials — insisting at a Saturday forum at Saddleback Church in Orange County that he would be a “pro-life president” and that a McCain presidency “will have pro-life policies.”
