[Updated] Obama shows class and respect during competitive campaign (Or was it a cover up after feeding the story)

UPDATE Ok, due to a barrage of responses that differed greatly with me on this subject, I decided to snoop around and see what I could discover between Obama and DailyKos. As I said in one of my comments, I’m prepared to be wrong with my initial reaction. The folks at RedState have revealed the history of corporation between Obama and DailyKos. Decide for yourself.

The pattern is clear: Obama’s campaign pushes information to Daily Kos. Daily Kos then spreads it and gets it into the media (probably because a lot of reporters are also diarists there). Given all the other ever changing statements from Obama, how exactly can we really believe his denials now, given his pattern and the connections?

I’ll admit it when I see it. I’m not completely blinded by my partisan views. When the issues are important or defining, both candidates have showed the fortitude to do what’s right. There is a fair amount of Obama bashing on this site between myself and the majority who visit, but fair is fair.

Obama on Governor Palin’s daughter’s pregnancy

“I have said before and I will repeat again: People’s families are off limits,” Obama said. “And people’s children are especially off-limits. This shouldn’t be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin’s performance as a governor or her potential performance as a vice president. So I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories. You know my mother had me when she was 18 and how a family deals with issues and teenage children, that shouldn’t be a topic of our politics.”

He later remarked that his campaign, nor none of his staffers to his knowledge, fueled the rumors over Governor Palin’s infant son. He said if he discovers different they would be fired.

  1. “You know my mother had me when she was 18 and how a family deals with issues and teenage children, that shouldn’t be a topic of our politics.”

I would be more impressed by his statement if his birth certificate issue had been settled.

  2. Sorry. Obama, or whatever his name might be, has shown no class.

His campaign issues that small-minded, denigrate-small-town-America, trash-public-service, sexist statement within minutes, it seems of McCain’s announcement of Palin–and it takes a day or so for Obama, or whatever his name might be, to only speak to its tone, not substance.

And now, after he’s surely known about how the lefto-blogosphere and his MSM — you know, the wrongly named MSM, the one that’s supposed to report the news, not hide or ignore it or slant it so? — have been trashing Palin since Friday afternoon — now he issues this statement.

The man is a worm. One lacking testicles. One who embarrasses men.

And his campaign is composed of such similar worms, be they male or female.

    Obama showing class and respect?

Please, take off the blinders, unplug your ears and get a life.

    Obama showing class and respect?

Those words and his name do not fit in the same sentence.

  3. Yes Obama did a good thing by denouncing this type of behavior. The problem is that his campaign and the DNC taught the nut jobs how to attack and spread rumors and lies. Here is the link: http://blog.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/07/18/at_netroots_nation_obama_campa.html

Obama only spoke out nationally because he had to. Secretly he is pushing them to continue. Donna Brazille even said the attacks on Bristol are fair. Could there be any more outrageous filth coming from the left.

I hold the Obama campaign and the DNC solely responsible for this filth to begin with. Just because Obama wants to appear above the fray doesn’t mean he really is.

  4. I thought he handled it with as much respect as possible. I can appreciate your difference on the subject especially when you are taking into account Obama’s whole history. But I stand by what I said, on the particular issue he handled it with class.

  5. I never said I loved the guy and I’m far from being a supporter. But with all of the hoopla and reporting going on, the most important person (that being Obama as a Democratic candidate for president) to denounce it sends a message. Until I learn otherwise, I’m going to take it as an act of class over a subject that should be off limits.

I’m prepared to be wrong as I don’t trust the left anymore than they trust us.

  6. nonsense. Obama has a machine that cued the media on this story. He then swoops in and tries to appear respectful. He is a wolf.

  7. Loozianajay, my apologies for what was a somewhat harsh response. My apologies.

You and I just differ greatly on this.

Truly, my apologies. But I do disagree with you, greatly.

    Best.

  8. I understand that you want to believe he may find this a little sickening like most decent people would. But my friend, Obama and his people have been working with DailyKos for some time now. He has even blogged on the site and forwarded information to them in the past. This was a joint effort I can assure you.

I doubt very seriously you support Obama which makes your willingness to recognize a clearly staged performance of humanity understandable. There has always existed a “respect for mine enemies.”

I think you rushed to judgement over what seemed like the right thing for him to do. You were just uninformed.

  9. CKA don’t sweat it. I knew that most wouldn’t agree with me.

Judge Roy are you really a judge? You sound all wise and fatherly.

  10. Does Obama support Kos and his supporters? I’m sure, he’s going to support everyone who is going to vote for him.

Will he condemn what that say when they are out of line? Well he just did.

Was this done for political reasons? I’ve said before and I’ll say again, at this point every move either candidate makes will be done based on what is in their best interests of winning. However, that doesn’t make it any less the right thing to do.

As far as being fed by Obama’s camp, its not really necessary. Information is available without their help. This site is constantly updated with new insider info. and I doubt LooJ has a direct feed from McCain.

Kos is extreme leftist, the same way that someone who calls a good father, husband, and public servant a worm with no class and respect is extreme right wing. Its fine not to like him and disagree with his political views, but unfounded comments such as these are just ignorant dribble.

LooJ, I appreciate the fact that even though you are strongly opposed to Obama you are still able to maintain your objectivity.

  12. If it was fed my Obama’s camp it was a very amateur thing to do. In fact, it was stupid. Not many people are willing to bash a mother who’s daughter becomes pregnant. These things happen — and to good people. Secondly, nobody in their right mind would jump onto rumors that say she pretended to have a child for her teenage daughter to save her own political career especially when so much proof dictates otherwise.

Governor Palin has only received sympathy and support due to all the criticism, slander and libel. Which leads me back to my original conclusion, I find it hard that the upper level of Obama’s camp was behind it especially considering the fact these are old rumors that have now made their way on to the big stage.
