When I Grow Up I Want To Be Just Like Fred Thompson

Say what you will; the man swings a big one. Did I mention he hates carbs and anything with leaves. It’s all lean, mean, protein for the Southern Gentlemen.

He is the MAN! He was right on time.. thank god. He told me more about John McCain than I knew, I am even more impressed. He unbuttoned that top button and took a big swing last night. I still have chills to think about those words and the way they were delivered. God Bless Fred and God continue to bless this country.

don’t forget to go to www.fredpac.com. It is now officially open and ready for all the Fred Heads to come back home.

I really don’t think Thompson’s politics would be bad in a conservative country. Strength and victory are ideas that can lead a country to success if the nation is supportive.
I don’t however feel that he has a feel for the country. His ideas won’t work in a country where half of it is liberal and strongly opposed to war, tiny government etc.
It reminds me of Viet Nam. If everyone had been in support of Viet Nam, and the soldiers were committed to winning we would have won, easily. However there were protesters everywhere(the MSM is the equivalent today) and the soldiers did not want to go. Before long the vast majority of the country did not want us to be there.
Thompson has alienated the Democrats with his strongly devisive comments. While I think he would be a good leader for people who thought just like him(which most people on this site do), I don’t feel he would be a good leader for our country as it exists today(there are just too many hippies).

Kdog, A.K.A., Special-K,
There’s only one thing Fred Thompson hates worse than terrorst, and that is hippies!
I want to share this with you as I’ve shared it with a few others. When I see Fred Thompson, I smell English Leather aftershave with a hint of cigar smoke.
Kdog, is that wrong?
As for your comment, I don’t look at Thompson’s views and philosophy as being divisive and fringed.
Prosperity= less taxes, less regulation, increaseds the entrepreneur spirt in the country
Freedom= Federalism, tame government, let people/state govern their affairs where they are able
Security= increase military spending, produce next generation technology and military power, be a friend of freedom, always be ready
America= ensure the dream lives on, our rights come from God and not from government, a government that is big enough to do anything for you is strong enough to take everything from you. Adhere to free market economies where choice and competition fuels innovation and provides world class way of life.
All of those things have made America what it is today. It’s just a shame that so many don’t have an appeciation of that or a deep sense of our nation’s history. Differing view points are a necessity for constructive debate. But an abandonment of any of these principles will lead us down a road of no return.

I don’t think we’ve ever lived in a conservative nation nor a liberal nation. The pendlum is forever changing as the nation is influenced by circumstances during its that particular time.
Ronald Reagan was the nations referendum on out of control government, taxes, and excessive regulation. The government grew and became more and more unyielding starting from FDR’s New Deal to LBJ’s Great Society programs. Carter was the last of the big government advocates. The nation had seen enough. It wasn’t working or at least not addressing the issues properly. Reagan steps in with a entirely different message and direction and the people loved him for it.
I’m not a Thompson supporter but he could be elected just as easily as anyone else. The man has always fit the times. Remember that.
Comment by Special K on 4 September 2008:
I don’t necessarily disagree with you LooJ, but there those that would approach those areas a little differently. They might say:
Prosperity= Use the top 1% who contol 50% of the wealth to contribute a little bit more for the general welfare of the country since they have infinite disposable income. Historically, everytime the disparity has gotten too great between the rich and the poor class the nation has fallen soon after.(richest $50,000,000,000; poorest-minimum wage 40hrs/week 52weeks/year 13,000 a year) Improved education system so that our descendant will be more successful(college ed. makes 1.5 times that of non-college ed.).
Freedom= Not to be subject to the control of the rich and powerful. Have a government that protects you from such enemies of freedom. Remember in the 1800s it wasnt the government that enslaved it was the rich; it was however the government that freed.
Security= New technologies and an improved home security defense are a must, but a military designed for offensive invasion will be counterproductive and expensive. Invasion can create new enemies instead of quell the old ones.
About half the natiion would agree with the above statements, but I don’t the Fred is one of them.
Btw Chris, I agree with your pendulum analogy, I just haven’t quite figured where exactly the nation currently sits on the arc.
