Recent polling as of September 6 shows the race has changed again. Obama’s semi-bounce seems to be all but over and now McCain appears to be the enjoying the momentum. As recently as September 4, Obama enjoyed a 7 point lead. Not the case now. Undoubtedly, Palin’s arrival to the ticket has added a whole new dimension to the race.

Poll averages

Gallup: McCain 48%, Obama 45%

Real Clear Politics: Obama 46%, McCain 45.2%

Rasmussen: McCain 48%, Obama 48%

All the data was collected just two days after the RNC. When considering all the polls together, this is by far the strongest showing by McCain as Obama has led for most of the race.

**UPDATE latest polls as of 7, September

USA/Today Gallup: McCain 54%, Obama 44%

Real Clear Politics: McCain 46.7, Obama 45.7

  1. I hate to say I told you so…BUT I TOLD YOU SO!!

I’m looking at you Special K!!

  2. Absolutely outstanding news - people, let’s do our part to keep up this momentum!

  3. I have only been really watching politics for the last 8 years or so. I truly believe that McCain picking Palin was the greatest political move I have ever seen. Nothing sexist meant by that remark she has just really charged this base and put a new face on Politics. Lets face it folks this a great time to be a american, either way we will make history. The first black man nominated by a major party and the first women nominated by the GOP. WOW!! Only in America!!

  4. I’m even more curious to see some of the newest state polls, especially Michigan, Virginia, Ohio and Colorado. All states I think McCain will win.

  5. Yeah, I don’t want to say I told you so either…wait yes I do. I expect the other polls to show the same by Wednesday or Thursday. This is great news and shows that more people are tuning in.

  6. the wheels have fallen off the Obama “Drink the Koo-Aid” Express hasn’t it. I bellieve the debates will seal the deal. I absolutely abhor watching Obama speak off the cuff. He sounds llike a stuttering moron. McCain is going to bull doze hime during the debates.

  7. McCain has pulled way ahead in Ohio and is within margin of error in Michigan. If McCain can sneak in and win Michigan or Penn, the race would be all but over. Two options that are very likely at this point.

I wonder if we’ll see a big shift in the battleground states. It seems they would only follow the national polls.

  8. Lol, you may be right Glen, but don’t celebrate prematurely. Nonetheless, congratulations on the recent shift.

Patriot X, I too am anxious to see what happens with the battleground states because as we all know popular vote doesnt mean win.
